When it comes to innovation and entrepreneurship in Brazil, Porto Alegre is among the top cities on the list. The capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul has an evolving ecosystem, ideal for those looking for new opportunities to develop their business. But still, with a business-friendly space, turning this city into a benchmark in the business world requires medium and long-term planning, as well as the involvement of all sectors. It was with this in mind that three of Porto Alegre’s leading universities – UFRGS, PUCRS and Unisinos – joined together and are now taking a new step, leading a project that will unite several companies and generate thousands of opportunities.

This is the Alegre Pact, a partnership that already has the initial participation of 75 entities from the State of Rio Grande do Sul, from the public and private sectors, and that should engage in projects that bring benefits to the city, stimulating knowledge, access to technology , encouraging the launch of new startups and the most diverse initiatives. The proposal aims to create a favorable environment for new investments and the development of talents of the city and the metropolitan region.

Besides the Pact, Porto Alegre is also about to have a new space to receive startups, students, educational institutions and the innovation and technology sectors of large companies. It is the Institute of Innovation, a business-generating complex within DC Navegantes and that will help develop the changes, technologies and local entrepreneurship. The Institute is already gathering donations and investments to start the renovation works of the building, and give Porto Alegre another project that will benefit everyone.
